Merry Christmas, you guys! Or merry not-Christmas, if you don't celebrate it, or not-merry Christmas, if you have an aversion to merriment, and in any case I wish good things upon you all. You are brilliant, brilliant people and I'm so glad I know all of you. (To the lurkers: I don't know you, but I am sure you are brilliant people regardless.)

Working on Christmas Eve would be okay if I weren't THE ONLY ONE HERE.

The entire residential department is made up of THREE PEOPLE today and two of them are doing stuff. Which means I get to answer the phones.

I hate answering phones. I'm not a good receptionist. I drop calls and transfer people to the wrong places and take ages to find the right extension. And the same guy from Brain Injury keeps calling over and over again and I have no idea what he's saying.

Looking back on this year, I notice I've spent most of the time being upset or angry about something. I guess I should try to make amends for that.

Amend #1: Have Alma, a creepy animated short featuring dolls. Just the right thing to get into that holiday cheer with!

Amend #2: I should have got around to this weeks ago, but Yuletide beat me up. Anyway, ficlet offering time!

Give me a prompt and a pairing (threesomes and moresomes go too, but they'll probably be more on the gen side), and I'll write you a ficlet in return. The fandoms I'm most willing to do are Final Fantasy VI-IX, House MD, Merlin, Smallville, Silent Hill, Nolan's Batman-films, Lost, Supernatural and Dexter, but as usual if you know I know a fandom, you can request for it. Gen, het, slash and femslash are all a go.

IT'S CHRISTMAS EVE

...We might be sold out; I'm not sure. Depends on whether a few follow up on their reserves in the next few days. For now we still effectively have a few copies up for grabs.

If we can sell out here soon, wow, awesome Christmas gift. :D I love being out of debt. Well, mostly. I need to tally the final amounts and see if there's any deficit remaining. Stupid post office.

Also, I have cheesecake.

To the major negative, this fic is threatening to expand in epic fashion and augh. :\ Who wants to spend a part of their Christmas Eve doing an emergency hatchet job on this thing with me?

While I was typing some stuff earlier, I kept hearing a meowing sound. It turned out my mom had locked the cat (the younger, fluffier one) out in the foyer where it's freezing, so I went and let him back inside.

I love how you can always tell when cats are hungry because it's the only time they'll pay attention to you. If a cat comes up to you purring and being absolutely adorable, you can be almost certain it's snacktime. I have been trying to figure out why the aforementioned younger fluffier cat ("Jack") always eats before our older fatter one ("Minnie", the moocher). It could be because he's male, since with lions and other things the males always eat first despite seldom participating in the hunt. Or it could be that he's more "aggressive", although I hesitate to call him that because he isn't really aggressive at all. He attacks the older cat in the same "hey I'm bored, let's play" way that she used to attack the even older cat back when she was a kitten (There's a real generation gap between them; she's about 8 years older than he is). If you poke at either of them they'll bite and grab your arm and stuff, but you have to be the aggressor. They're pretty chill otherwise. Max (my suitemate's cat, the one in the photo from a week or two ago) is aggressive; he will go out of his way to jump on your limbs. Plus he has all his claws. Ouch.

I have possible photospam for later, including cats on furnaces, furry hats, video game cookies, and the toy revolver that lacerated my finger. (Gun spinning: Cool, but also potentially rather painful) It'll probably have to wait until I finish up both my secret santas, oh boy. LAST MINUTE PROOFREADING AND COLORING THINGS IN AND STUFF, YEAH!

RE: CARDS: Let me know when you get yours so that I'll know it didn't get lost in the mail or something. I know mail tends to really slow down around this time of the year, so I'm hoping it won't take too horribly long for stuff to get to anybody.

Last night, I had a dream.

It was an epic dream, long and plotty and exciting. I woke up at five in the morning, fully intending to write it all down before I forgot it, tried to reach for a pen... and fell immediately back asleep.
When I woke up again two hours later, all I could remember was that the dream was awesome and that it involved Solid Snake trying to infiltrate Babylon 5.

Yeah.
Well, I suppose it makes some sort of sense. The Stealth Camo is obviously Shadow Tech. Besides, why do you think they called that island "Shadow Moses"? Clark could be a puppet of the Patriots and Ocelot could be plotting with the Shadows, attempting to bring Big Boss' dream of Outer Heaven to the galaxy.

Unfortunately, I don't think I know anyone who is familiar with both canons, so there you go, Internet. You get to share my epic dream.

Oh, and happy holidays to everybody. Don't let the Christmas songs drive you mad!
